Ovarian Rejuvenation: All you need to know It is a known fact the number and quality of eggs a female produces depreciates with age, and it gets to a point where there are no more eggs available, hence the hope of conception is dashed. But there is Great news!Advancement in age, and ovarian dysfunction can no longer stand in the way of the full actualisation of your fertility potential, as a great possibility presents itself in ovarian rejuvenation. In simple terms, ovarian rejuvenation (or revival) is a process where the ovaries are invorigated (stimulated) to induce follicle growth or development, and produce eggs for fertilization.Basically, restoring or enhancing ovarian function in women who are experiencing early menopause or premature ovarian aging is the main goal of the emerging field of reproductive medicine known as ovarian rejuvenation. Women who want to increase their fertility potential or conceive naturally will greatly benefit from this procedure.Stem cell therapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, and the use of growth factors are some of the options for ovarian rejuvenation. These methods stimulate the production of healthy eggs as well as the the development of new ovarian tissues. Stem cell therapy however presents as one the most promising approaches to this procedure. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that can develop into specialized cells, such as egg cells, through differentiation. These can be obtained from the woman herself (from sources like bone marrow, fat tissue, or umbilical cord blood) or from a donor in this procedure. After that, these cells are injected into the ovaries, where they can help healthy follicles grow and produce eggs.Ovarian stem cell therapy has been shown to be effective for treating women with low ovarian reserve or premature ovarian aging. This has also been found to improve women’s ovarian function, such as increased levels of anti-Mรผllerian hormone (AMH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), as well as the production of viable eggs.Another method used in ovarian rejuvenation is platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. PRP is a concentration of platelets taken from the patient’s own blood and containing a variety of growth factors that have the potential to encourage tissue repair and regeneration. PRP is injected into the ovaries during this procedure to encourage the growth of new eggs and healthy follicles. This could be done in two ways: the ovary injection (which involves a transvaginal approach where PRP is inserted in the ovaries), and the uterine infusion which as the name implies, means the insertion of PRP into the uterine cavity)This also produces the favourable outcomes of better ovarian function which include higher levels of AMH, as well as the production of mature eggs that are suitable for fertilization. In addition to the PRP therapy and stem cell therapy methods mentioned, growth factors are used in other ovarian rejuvenation treatments. Growth factors are substances that naturally occur and encourage cell growth and regeneration. They can be delivered via targeted drug delivery systems or by injection into the ovaries.Ovarian rejuvenation is indeed a promising field that offers great possibilities. And going into the future, more methods that will add to these will surely come into the picture.Underlying medical conditions, age, as well as the severity of ovarian dysfunction are some of the basic factors that play a important role in the outcome of the procedure. Ultimately, each woman’s body response to treatment differs, therefore, there is no one way approach and predetermined outcome. In conclusion, this procedure offers a great chance at conception in the following situations:-Recurrent Implantation Failure-Failed Embryo Transfer-Low Ovarian Reserve (Low AMH)-Thin Endometrial Lining-Poor Egg Quality-Poor Egg Quantity and-Poor Response to IVFAfrica’s Premier Hospitality-based Fertility Hospital, Alps Hospitals and Diagnostics, pioneered this service in Nigeria and currently has the best expertise in it.Cheers to breaking the frontiers of innovation in reproductive healthcare.Cheers to endless possibilities for you!

Fibroids: All you need to know No doubt, fibroid is a universal concern which everyone has probably heard of.

The lack of proper understanding however presents a greater issue which hampers on access to the right professional help. That said, what then are fibroids?Fibroids, also known as uterine fibroids or leiomyomas, are noncancerous growths that develop on the wall of the uterus. These growths are very common. About 70-80% of women are projected to develop fibroids by the age of 50.Fibroids are usually benign and do not increase the risk of uterine cancer, but they can cause a variety of symptoms and complications that may require treatment. Causes and Risk Factors: The exact cause of fibroids is still not known, but several factors have been traced to their development. Hormones, particularly estrogen and progesterone, have been found to play an important role in the growth of uterine fibroids. Other potential risk factors include a family history of fibroids, obesity, and African-American ethnicity. Estrogen levels can fluctuate during a woman’s fertile years, which explains why fibroids tend to develop and grow during this time.

Symptoms: While many women with fibroids experience no symptoms, for others, fibroids can cause significant discomfort and complications. Common symptoms of fibroids include: 1. Pain or pressure in the pelvis. Fibroids can cause pain in the pelvis, lower back, or during sexual intercourse.

2. Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding.:Uterine fibroids can cause anemia and fatigue with heavy or long menstrual periods.

3. Urination problems: Large fibroids can compress the bladder, causing frequent urination or the urge to urinate. 4.Infertility or repeated miscarriages: Fibroids, depending on their location and size, can interfere with pregnancy and fertility.

5. Bowel problems: Fibroids can also put pressure on the rectum, causing constipation or difficulty having a bowel movement.

Treatment Options: The choice of treatment for fibroids depends on several factors, including the severity of the symptoms, the size and location of the fibroids, the woman’s age, and her desire to have children. Treatment options include:

1. Medications: – Hormonal birth control: Oral contraceptives or intrauterine devices that contain hormones can help control menstrual bleeding and reduce pain, but do not reduce the size of fibroids. – Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists: These drugs can shrink fibroids by lowering estrogen and progesterone levels. They are used temporarily or before surgery to make fibroids more manageable. – Tranexamic acid: This drug helps reduce heavy menstrual bleeding caused by fibroids.

2. ๐Œ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ฏ๐š๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐จ๐œ๐ž๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ: – Uterine artery embolization: This is a procedure that blocks and constricts the blood supply by injecting small particles into the blood vessels that supply uterine fibroids. – MRI-guided focused ultrasound surgery: This entails using ultrasound to heat and destroy fibroids to relieve symptoms. -Myomectomy: Surgery to remove uterine fibroids while preserving the uterus.-

๐Ÿ. ๐‹๐š๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ ๐Œ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฒ: This is an advanced form of myomectomy. In this case, laser energy is used for the procedure. It offers the benefits of increased operational speed, minimal or no risk fluid overload, less trauma and is also bloodless to a large extent. In addition, there is insignificant post-operative adhesions or complications when compared to other sources of energy used in the surgery. These benefits make it the most suitable option for women who want to preserve fertility. This method in Nigeria, was first adopted by Alps Hospitals and Diagnostics, and the facility currently trains surgeons in this specialty.

3. ๐’๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐Ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: – Hysterectomy: In severe cases or for women who have completed family planning, hysterectomy may be recommended. This entails the removal of uterus. – Endometrial ablation: This procedure destroys the lining of the uterus, reducing heavy menstrual bleeding caused by fibroids. It is important to note that the choice of treatment depends on individual circumstances, and it is best to consult a Gynaecologist for proper evaluation and discussion of the most suitable options for you.In a nutshell, fibroids are common non-cancerous growths in the uterus that can cause a range of symptoms and complications. The treatment options for fibroids include medication, minimally invasive procedures, or surgery, depending on the severity of symptoms and the woman’s reproductive goals.Fibroids could pose as a challenge but the great news is, it is very much treatable, and you get a chance to reach your fertility goals as well. The greater news is that you do not need to travel abroad anymore for a surgery or any of the treatment procedures highlighted above.Africa’s Premier Hospitality-based Fertility Hospital, Alps Hospitals and Diagnostic located in the city of Jos, Nigeria, offers all these services. In fact, as earlier mentioned, the hospital pioneered the laser myomectomy procedure in Nigeria, and has the record of the best expertise on this. It goes a step further to train surgeons too.Cheers to endless possibilities!
